There is a "joi de vive" attitude throughout this area that is contagious, especially after two glasses of the regional rose and a picnic of cheese and sausage from the local farmers.

The French Alps are renowned to be fabulous for skiing and mountaineering, but offer much more than that. There are many lakes including the Lake of Geneva, Lake of Annecy and Lake of Bourget where numerous water sports are possible. Famous resorts include Chamonix, Annecy with its old city, Grenoble where the Olympic Games took place in 1968.

The French Alps have also great many restaurants and is especially famous for its numerous varities of cheese.

The Riviera is famous for the glamour of St. Tropez, Monaco or the Cannes Film Festival. However, there are many other less well known attractions, such as the perched villages of Eze and Gourdon, the perfumeries of Grasse and the glass blowers of Biot. The Riviera has been the inspiration for many well-known artists such as Picasso and many of their works are on display in local museums and art galleries.
