The Moulin du Rateau was a watermill used to generate electricity and provide power for bottling vegetables and preserves. It is the last of 16 mills on the river Combade, a category 1 trout river, situated just above its confluence with the river Vienne.
The mill fell into disuse in the 1950's and has since been renovated to provide an individual building of character, constructed of stone under a slate roof, set in 3 hectares of pasture and woodland with 400metres of river frontage.
Fishing for trout using lure, bait or fly is available from the property and both upstream & downstream for as far as it is possible to roam in a day.
Outside there is ample off road parking space, a lawned area between the mill and the river, an orchard and 2 donkey paddocks.
The sleeping accommodation on the first floor comprises 3 bedrooms.
One double bedroom, dual aspect with views to South & West, with ensuite toilet, shower and handbasin.
A second double bedroom with chestnut flooring and views over the river.
A third bedroom for 3 people with a fireplace and chestnut flooring. It has 3 beds which can be arranged as a double and 1 single as required.
There is a shower room with toilet and washbasin.
On the ground floor is a large day room with kitchen, dining & lounging areas with access to terraces on 2 elevations. There is a further garden room again with dining area overlooking the river with a further terrace and barbecue.
