La Conciergerie is situated within the grounds of the next door chateau in a quiet, small village near to a salmon fishing river and historic fortified town about an hour from the Pyrénées mountains an an hour from the atlantic coast. It has three bedrooms and can comfortably sleep six people.

If you are looking for somewhere to get away from it all in South West France, then here it is.
"La Conciergerie" was originally the gate house for the adjacent chateau in the small village of Méritein. It stands in the grounds of the chateau, but is now a seperate house with a large mature garden. It has three bedrooms and can comfortably sleep six people.

Méritein, Béarn, Pyrenees-Atlantiques
Méritein is in the heart of the 'Béarn', a region next to the Basque country in the West, just north of the Pyrénées. Méritein is a 15 minute walk to Navarrenx, a small fortified town on the banks of the 'Gave d'Oloron' a large river hosting the annual World Salmon Fishing Championships. Méritein and Navarrenx are on the 'Chemin de St Jacques de Compostelle' pilgrimage route down to northern Spain (the GR65 route in France). The Tour de France came right past our doorway this year, hopefully next year too.
There are so many things to do in Navarrenx and the surrounding area, such as fishing, cycling, walking, quad biking, rafting and even flying, there is no excuse to sit around (unless of course, that's exactly what you came away to do!). You can do just that in so many beautiful spots along the Gave or in the rolling foothills of the Pyrénées or in our beautiful garden. Here you can sit and relax, listening to the chickens from next door, or watching the berger walk his flock through the chateau grounds to their pastures. You could also visit our small art gallery that we run in Navarrenx.
