Our house is situated in Olonzac, a large village with all the amenities of shops, restaurants and a few bars all within walking distance. We are in the central minervious region, and which ever direction you take, there is something of interest for adults or children. The mountains and historical sights, the beaches, safari park and caves, or cycling, boating, or just drinking lots of wine sitting in our garden and relaxing.

Minervois house is a traditional stone 3 storey village house in Olonzac, tucked in a quiet road, just off the main village street.

It is 2 minutes walk to the patisseries for croissants and fresh bread for breakfast, and all the shops, restaurants and services you require. From the bedrooms there are extensive views of the mountains and scenery.

Whatever kind of vacation you are looking for, whether it is for relaxing, hiking, cycling, sightseeing, exploring historical sights, or attractions to visit which will make the children happy, maybe even house hunting, then time spent in Olonzac will convince you that you have chosen the perfect place, as people will tell you that they return here year after year.

Minervois house has been furnished in a typically French style, and provides comfortable accommodation for up to 6 people plus a baby, in a very friendly village.

The Minervois, in the Languedoc-Rouissillon is a beautiful spot to visit at any time of the year. The flora in Spring is superb, July and August the hottest months, Autumn is pleasant. Winter days are cooler, but usually bright with warm sun; so it is often possible to sit outside for lunch.

Olonzac, the centre of the wine district, lies between Narbonne and Carcassonne, it is well provided with shops i.e. Butchers, bakers, supermarket, pharmarcies, and all the services you require. There are some very excellent restaurants, all within 2 - 10 minutes walk.

On Tuesday mornings Olonzac boasts a thriving French street market with long tables selling everything from hot roast chicken, paella, fresh vegetables or dozens of different varieties of olives, to clothes, fabric and shoes. Olonzac boasts a large municipal park, with 3 tennis courts, bowls and a play area for children. There is a stage which often hosts live musical concerts. The locals are all very friendly and make you feel very welcome.

Adjoining Olonzac is the village of Homps, through which passes the Canal du Midi, it runs for 145 miles and over 100 locks, shady and idyllic, the entire length has been planted with plane trees, boat rental and trips along the canal are available from here. Homps has several good restaurants on the banks of the canal and there is good secluded walking on the old towpaths.
