The main riches of the region of Southern Ukraine is its access to the Black Sea, mild climate and fertile soils as well as oil and gas deposits in the Black Sea and the Sea of Azov.
Therefore the region is a centre of marine transportation, shipbuilding, agriculture and oil and gas extraction. Oblasts of Southern Ukraine and the Republic of Crimea also have well developed tourism sector infrastructure that however still has numerous opportunities for further expansion.
