Bavarians tend to place a great value on food and drink. Bavarians also consume many items of food and drink which are unusual elsewhere in Germany, for example Weißwurst (white sausage). Beer in particular has always been regarded as a basic nutrient!
The largest city in southern Germany Munich, is famous for one thing - beer. The Czechs and Belgians probably make better beer, but no one celebrates it like the Munchners who hold numerous beer festivals, including the famous Oktoberfest.
