Kyrenia is the gem of the North. The town of Kyrenia is the focus for this region. Centred around a horshoe shaped harbour the town offers a great deal to its visitors. The Byzantine castle is a big draw housing the Kyrenia shipwreck museum.
This region has a relaxed pace of life, you can get a feel for what it was truley like in the 1950,s by reading Lawrence Durrells' book Bitter Lemons of Cyprus. His then home on the island was in nearby Bellapais a lovely traditional village near Kyrenia.
