Location Details
Rauris
Rauris (950m, 3200 inhabitants), because of the prosperous gold-mining in olden days also known as 'golden town', is rich of history and one of the oldest settlements in the East-Alps. Mediaeval gold mining once looted the recourses of this 'Pinzgauer' mountain valley.
Treasure hunters of our time are still lucky - the idyllic national park village lures with historical inheritance of those rural times, an abundance of unspoiled nature and beautiful ski, hike- and mountain biking areas. Run through by the Rauriser Creek, the 30 kilometer long side valley of the Salzach has no through traffic.
At the bottom of the valley at 'Kolm-Saigurn' (the Rauriser primeaeval forest) only hiking shoes and cross-country skis are considered to be means of transport. The hamlets in the valley have, through time, maintained their originality, like the authentic Bucheben or Wörth, since history important transits to the 'Glocknergruppe' mountain-ridge.
Rauris itself feels comfortable as being an alpine den of the extra class, dynamic and well prepared for its guests. Here the vacationer is treated to steep mountain-slopes, gorges and versants in between which a mountain agricultural world of impressive beauty finds its place. Being a nature reserve village contributes to maintaining this status.
Rauris is also a very good point of departure for day trips in Salzburgerland and Tirol. Absolute relaxation is guaranteed in 'Wohlfühloase' Rauris.
