Listing description
A character stone property with luxury fit out set on the edge of a village with a secluded garden and walking distance from shops, bars and restaurants. Ideally located to explore the chateaux and vineyards of Loire Valley.
There is a large fitted farmhouse kitchen with a table comfortably seating 8 people. Equipment includes dishwasher, washing machine, oven, hob, microwave, electric kettle, coffee maker and toaster. The kitchen opens out onto a small patio and BBQ, there is also an outside WC.
The lounge has a comfortable seating area with a large open fireplace. There is English satellite TV, DVD player and stereo system. We also supply a selection of books, DVDs and games.
Upstairs are 2 large bedrooms one with 2 single beds and one with a double bed. There are wardrobes and seating areas in both.
The bathroom has a bath, WC and over bath shower.
The secluded garden has a selection of fruit trees. Garden furniture is supplied and there is private off-road parking.
There is oil-fired central heating and a supply of logs for the open fire
Location Details
On the edge of a well serviced village 20kms from the château town of Saumur on Loire river.
The Loire Region is steeped in history and provides many attractions with its museums, abbeys, medieval churches, cathedrals, and troglodyte caves - all close by. You have easy access to all the châteaux of the Loire and historic towns such as Chinon associated with Joan of Arc and Rabelais and the Abbey at Fontevraud where Richard of Lionheart is buried.
You are ideally placed to visit all the vineyards of the region which produces light reds, white and rosé wines.
For adults (who are really kids at heart) there is a fabulous zoo at La Flèche and there are 140 ‘Boules’ clubs in the area for those who want to play with the locals.
The river, lakes and forests accommodate those with outdoor interests. There is a wide range of water sports such as fishing, sailing, canoeing or swimming, jetskiing is less than a km away.
There are public swimming pools and local lakes with fishing and sandy beaches.
There are also plenty of paths for cycling, walking and horse riding.
There are at least six first class golf courses in the area.
For those partial to ‘retail therapy’ there are a multitude of options from local markets to exclusive boutiques in Tours and Angers (and, of course, Paris is less than an hour away on the TGV from Le Mans).
