Holiday Cottages especially for 2 in Lincolnshire Wolds

Greetham Retreat Holidays is the perfect place for couples as we have three very different cottages or appartments especially for two guest to share.

They are all very comfortable and welcoming with there own individual charm, being well furnished with leather sofas, solid oak tables, flat-screen TV's & DVD players. All have full oil fired central heating & double glazing making it really warm and cosy for any season.

Preparing meals is easy in the excellently equipped, practical, labour saving kitchens which all have ceramic hob, electric fan oven, microwave, dishwasher and fridge/freezer. A washing machine and tumble drier is also available in a separate laundry room.

Our three cottages are all slightly different, they are:

Rose's Rest:
This cottage is on the ground floor and sleeps 2 in a king sized bed with an en suite shower room. It has high ceilings with original beams, a breakfast bar & two stools and is very comfortable, warm and cosy. A small dog is welcome.

Laura's Loft:
This is a very cosy and private apartment for 2 people. It has its own private front door and stairs leading to an open plan living room and a double bedroom with en suite which has a luxury whirlpool spa bath with shower attachment. No pets in this apartment.

Wendy's Wing:
Wendy's Wing is dog friendly ground floor cottage that sleeps 2 people. The bedroom has a super king sized bed which can become two singles. It has an en suite wetroom & high ceilings with original beams.

The area surrounding Greetham Retreat’s grounds is pleasant and peaceful. There is plenty of open space; hills and countryside to explore with quiet country roads, bridleways and footpaths to stroll along.

A short walk will take you to into the centre of Greetham, our small, picturesque village. It is home to All Saints Church, the foundations of which date from as early as the 12th Century. The building was restored in 1903 and is presently in good repair. Beech Farm has also recently been restored; it is believed to be the oldest ‘mud and stud’ type construction in the country being dated as early as the late 14th century. An idyllic dew pond with seating on its banks is located at the centre of the village, next to which is Black Horse Farm, once the village’s Ale House.

For those with an interest in history, Somersby Church of St. Margaret is less than three miles away. This 15th Century, green sandstone church had the father of Lord Alfred Tennyson as its rector in 1808 and Lord Tennyson himself was born in the nearby rectory. The remains of the 13th Century Bolingbroke Castleis also nearby, as is the site of the 1643 Battle of Winceby, Bolingbroke’s only taste of war in its long history.

Less than two miles away is The Viking Way, a long distance footpath which begins on the banks of the Humber and leads 147 miles through Lincolnshire to Rutland Water. Visit the Long Distance Walkers Association for more information.

We also offer short breaks all year for 3 or 4 nights. 3 night short breaks arrive on a Friday and 4 night short breaks arrive on Mondays.

We enjoy a delightfully tranquil and stunning position which is home to abundant wildlife, plants and birds. Our grounds extend to over 4 acres and include areas of woodland, wildlife ponds, wild flower meadows and seating which takes advantage of the panoramic views. This is where the stresses of life are left behind. We can also offer Holistic therapies and massage treatments during your stay.

The area offers a great deal for the country lover; walking, cycling, sight seeing, aviation heritage museums, bird-watching, horse riding,or simply enjoying the peace and quiet, you will find this the perfect place to take a break. We are under 3 miles from the market town of Horncastle famous for its antique shops and heritage. The fantastic cathedral city of Lincoln and many east coast seaside resorts are all within easy travelling distances.
