Location Details
Location Details
The village is located in western Peloponnisos, 5 Km from Zacharo’s town, 8 Km from Kaiafa’s Lake, 34 Km from Pyrgos’s town and it is known from its extraordinary beach. The nearest route is to start from the city of Athens and follow the “Tripoli-Megalopoli” highway. The first part of the route until Tripoli’s town fulfills all innovative construction specifications of a highway. Afterwards, while you come across few Km of Tripoli’s villages and you reenter the highway, you’ll go up and down a mountain and then reach to the point named “Allagi”. From there, if you go straight ahead you’ll arrive at Kalamata’s town. However, you’ll have to turn right when you see the sign “Pirgos-Kiparissia”. This road leads to the intersection Kiparissia-Kalo Nero-Pyrgos, where you turn right and go on for about 15 minutes. After the Niochori’s intersection you turn left for Kakovato’s village. The total duration of the travel lasts approximately 2,5 to 3 hours.

Additional Information
The village is one of the prettiest and cheapest destinations. There, you can find a grocery, a mini market and lots of taverns. In the central beach of the village, for 40 years now there is a fish tavern named “Kochili” at your left hand and at your right hand there is another one named “I Mouries”. Moreover, before you reach the central beach, you will run into two more fish taverns. All fish taverns offer roasted meat as well. The tavern named “To Pigadi”, next to the old well which supplied with water the whole village, serves Greek home made dishes. Little more further from the well, in the market of the village, there is a grill house named “O giatros tis pinas” which serves Greek souvlaki and other kinds of roasted meat. On the other side of the village near to the primary school there is another tavern named “I folia tou dasous” where you can taste delicious roasted meat too in the evening hours of the day. In addition, it is known as an event center for weddings and christenings.
As I have referred to it, Kakovatos is very proud for its finest beach. There is the central beach which concludes the fish taverns mentioned before and a few meters at your right hand there is the second beach with a splendid beach bar named Marabu where you can enjoy your swimming with the coffee of your desire or a local drink called “ouzo” accompanied with various finger foods. Both beaches offer free shower, umbrellas and sun beds. The third beach called “potami” is located left from the central beach. They all have thin sand in and outside of the sea but in the third beach sometimes you may find a small amount of rocks. They are also ideal for playing rackets and beach volley. The sea is shallow or deep depending on how the wind moves the sand. Be careful on the currents of the sea when there are waves. You will not encounter a lifeguard but the village has placed life preservers along the beach.
In the market of the village you can enjoy the authentic Greek coffee in the two traditional cafes of the village. The night life takes place at Marabu to the second beach and in a club named “A Club” next to the tavern called “To Pigadi”. For something more you should have to go to Zacharo either in the beach club named “Para thin alos” or to the cafes in the central square. In the village, one weekend of August, usually the first, the Culture club arranges a two days event. Last year, it was dedicated to olive and olive oil. In the nearest theatre named “Floka” towards to Ancient Olympia, every summer concerts and theatrical performances, which they have been produced in winter, occur. Moreover, in the villages nearby, lots of festivals with traditional music and piglets to be offered take place every summer. The most known is the festival in the Madonna of Varko at 23rd of August.
