Location Details
Tarn, situated in the Regional Park of Haut-Languedoc
Our local village lies in the Durenque valley, offering gorgeous views of the valley and surrounding mountains. The area is a paradise for walkers, hikers and mountain biking enthusiasts. The Sidobre national park is 15 minutes away by car, and here you can explore the famous rock formations of this unique landscape of solid granite dating back 300 million years. The area is excellent for anyone interested in activity holidays and there are walking, mountain biking, trekking on horse-back, canoeing, parachute jump, photography and painting workshops all available close by. The region is famous for its proud tradition of local produce; charcuterie, confit du canard, cassoulet, roquefort and brebis cheeses, and to die for gaillac wines. All of which can be bought in the local markets. This year we have the 'Tour de France' passing our door. The climate is very sunny with summer temperatures reaching high 30's. Spring & Summer offer beautiful sunny days perfect for outdoor activity. There are many beautiful places to visit; Albi and its beautiful cathedral, Lautrec museum and cobbled streets. Carcassonne, the largest inhabited fortified castle in Europe. Gaillac and it's hillside vineyards which are among the oldest in the world. Castres and it's Goya museum and picturesque merchants houses overhanging the Agout river, and lovely streets. Mazamet and its fabulous market place. The Black Mountains - beautiful views over its valleys and gorges and medieval villages.
