Somerset Holiday Cottage on Swain Street Watchet
The ancient little seaport of Watchet has a fascinating history told in two interesting museums, from the invasion of the Vikings to Romantic poet Coleridge, who was said to have composed The Rime of the Ancient Mariner here. Watchet offers a variety of activities to suit all interests and ages, including deep sea fishing, fossil hunting and several excellent cafes and restaurants, family-friendly pubs, a delicatessen and boutiques. Its attractive marina and esplanade is a popular destination.
From Watchet you are in easy reach of Blue Anchor just 2 miles away with its pebbly beach and swimming pool, a fun excursion on the West Somerset Steam Railway, the long stretch of sandy beach at Minehead, Cheddar Caves and Gorge, Clarks Village outlet shopping in Street, Tropiquaria zoo a few minutes away, cider farms such as Sheppy's, and the beautiful holiday areas of Exmoor and the Quantocks.
West Somerset is a beautiful holiday destination, with activities and attractions for all tastes and weather – from beaches to quaint villages, horseback riding to fishing, antique shopping to Exmoor crafts, a vintage steam railway to a dramatic coastal walk, and historic sites from Dunster Castle to Coleridge's cottage.
