La Vieille Banque is a petite cottage in the heart of a charming village on the edge of the Parc Natural Régional Normandie-Maine and is ideally situated for you to enjoy all that Normandy and Pays De La Loire have to offer throughout the year.
The true taste of the magic of France is on your doorstep. Enjoy freshly baked bread and pattiserie from the village baker; take a stroll past the enchanting village church and out into the lush Normandy countryside; and, sample rural village living as the other villagers go about their everyday lives.
The cottage's interior has been stylishly restored from its former days as the village bank. Today it blends its original charm of beamed ceilings, with modern-day comfort and a small indoor terrace. Outside, dine alfresco or enjoy an aperitif in the small courtyard.
Each season offers something different - from the blossom of the surrounding pear orchards in the Spring; the villages fleuri and the Medieval Festival of Domfront in the Summer; and the renowned illuminated villages of Normandy at Christmas - so why not visit and discover your favourite season?

We offer you the ideal base to explore the magic of Normandy. From it's beautiful scenary to its fairytale chateaux. From the pear and cider orchards to the medieval towns with their breathtaking half timbered buildings, markets and squares. Normandy has it all!
The village of St Mars D'egrenne is situated within easy driving distance of the larger medieval market town of Domfront, which hosts its world renowned Medieval Festival every two years, and its regular weekly market on a Friday. Step back in time and stroll the narrow cobbled streets, passing the half timbered houses and open squares. Relaxing at the restaurants and cafes on your way to enjoying the breathtaking views of Normandy from the ancient castle hilltop ruins.
On your doorstep you will find many beautiful country lanes and pathways suitable for walking and cycling and offering easy access to the loveliest countryside where you can enjoy the area's flora and fauna.
Further afield lie the towns of Flers (28km north) and Alencon (68km east), both of which offer fine architecture, a wide range of shops and weekly markets. While just 30 minutes away is the beautiful spa town of Bagnoles de L'orne famous for its hot water spa and 1930's casino.
Within an hour of the cottage are some of the finest chateaux in France, including the fairytale Chateau d'O. Rated in the AA Essential Guide to Normandy as one of the top 10 places to visit! A bit closer, is the romantic village

Additional Information
As you enter the cottage there is a:
• Lounge/dining area - with seating at the dining table for two, plus a sofa/futon for relaxing and a coffee table, this area also contains the satellite TV (with UK channels), CD & radio and a selection of books (including a guide book to the local area) to help while away your time
• Fully fitted kitchen with a large, integrated fridge/freezer, cooker and microwave. Fully equipped for cooking those romantic meals for two!
Situated off the main room is a:
• Shower room, equipped with a thermostatic shower, toilet and wash basin. (Towels are provided)
• Indoor Terrace, a light and bright space with two easy chairs to read a book, drink a glass of wine or just watch the world go by. Giving access to the:
• Outside Courtyard furnished with table and 2 chairs for alfresco dining.
Situated on the first floor is a:
• Large master bedroom which is light and airy, features original beams, and is furnished with a double bed, dressing table, ornate hanging rail, rustic storage trunk and storage cupboard with shelves and space for suitcases etc.
There are wall mounted electric heaters to all rooms and ample electrical sockets throughout the cottage (spare UK adaptor plugs provided).
