If you love naature then you'll love the Limousin.Known as Frances Lake District.
It is a beautifull and unspoilt part of the world. The distinct caramel coloured Limousin cattle as well as market gardens and orchards full of cherries and apples. Rivers and lakes teem with fish.
The Limousin has a rich history, as well as its connections with the French wars of religion and the revolution, it has also links with richard the Lion heart, whose attempt to wrest back control of his land from French lords ended in his death her.
An area that was once known as the abbey St Martial destroyed during the Revolution, now Place de le republique - is today the heart of the city. Rue de la Boucherie is one of the most attractive streets with its half timbered houses. The Jardins de L'Evéché is next door to the arch bishops palace, these terraced gardens give a lovely view over the Vienne river.
Famous tapestries are still been woven in the town of Aubusson.
As we are in France we cannot forget the food either. Limousin beef is known for being very tasty.
