Listing description

This charming country cottage, built of regional stone, boasts many original features including exposed beams throughout, and has its own private garden with garden furniture.
Ground Floor:
• Large kitchen/breakfast room – fully equipped with log burning stove.
• Shower Room with hand basin, toilet, heated towel rail and hairdryer.
• Cloakroom with hand basin and toilet.
• Elegant 27’ lounge/dining room with original Charentais fireplace, formal dining area, and cosy sofas with hi-fi and colour TV for DVD/video playback only. French doors lead out into a garden of lilac trees, roses and irises for relaxing and dining ‘al fresco’.
First floor:
• Bedroom 1: Family room with one double bed and one single bed with views over the gardens.
• Bedroom 2: Double bed and baby cot featuring impressive exposed beams leading through to:
• Bedroom 3: Pretty twin room with wrought iron beds.
Heating:
The cottage has a log fire in the lounge/dining room, log burner in the kitchen/breakfast room with electric convector heating throughout, so perfect for that out of season break.
Outside:
A private, walled garden with garden furniture for enjoying eating ‘al fresco’.
Location Details
La Maison is ideally situated in a peaceful village between Cognac and La Rochelle.
The Romanesque town of Aulnay-de-Saintonge is only 5 minutes drive away, with all amenities including a market, bakeries, supermarkets, pharmacies, restaurants, cafes, banks, seasonal open-air swimming pool and UNESCO World Heritage listed - Aulnay church. Special weekly wine tasting visits are arranged at the local distillery. This enables all our guests to savour the Cognac, Pineau des Charentes and wines of the region.
A full tourist information guide is provided in each cottage on local attractions, special events and wonderful places to enjoy the local gastronomic fayre of Poitou-Charentes.
All within an hour’s drive or less are:
•Chic resorts of La Rochelle and Royan – for sightseeing, shopping and seafood;
•Atlantic Coast sandy beaches – chance to enjoy the beautiful seaside;
•The Island of Ile de Ré – exclusive and chic with excellent restaurants;
•The wild Island of Ile d’Oleron – enjoy the world famour oysters, nature walks and great beaches;
•Historic cities of Saintes and Poitiers – sightseeing, art galleries, shopping and eating;
•Canals of Green Venice (Marais Poitevin) – boat trips along the canals followed by crêpes and cider;
•Exciting Futuroscope – cinematic theme park, and
•Cognac – home to world famous names such as Hennessey, Martell and Remy Martin.

The changeover day for Wishing Well Cottage is Saturday in peak season - July & August.
However, at all other times of the year, arrival and departure days are flexible. Short breaks available.
