In the water, both in the depths of the sea and close to the coastline, the richness of the underwater world calls for the practice of sub-aquatic activities. In all the islands there are interesting locations for divers and submariners, but the Island of El Hierro, to the west of Tenerife, the region of El carbon to the south east of Gran Canaria and the Archipelago Chinijo, to the north of Lanzarote are the ideal locations.

Out of the water, on the sea surface, the Islands enjoy excellent conditions for sailing and for deep sea fishing , as well as for practicing sports on the waves, such as surfing and windsurfing.

The trade winds and the current of the Canaries, a cold sea current which flows Northeast to Southeast, are two key elements in sailing. Known and used since forever by sailors on their voyages to the New World. Today, they allow enjoyable and long voyages by yacht and sailing boats. International regattas such as the ARC, leave the islands every year heading for America.

The Atlantic fish the Blue Marlin has become a great attraction for amateur fishermen from around the World who find in our waters fish which exceed 200 kilos.

Surfing, Windsurfing and other sea and wind sports profit from the incomparable conditions which the Canarian waters offer in certain areas of the Archipelago. Every year Grand Slam windsurfing competions which are valid for the World championships take place in Gran Canaria (Pozo Izquierdo) and Fuerteventura (Barlovento).
